Team Building with Grindrod

A few weeks ago we were invited to do a team building workshop with Grindrod.

We had a stunning setting at Audacia Manor. It was a balmy night but maybe a little windy so we had some fun chasing runaway papers.

Katie did an amazing job setting up all the tables with instructions and ingredients. The ladies were divided into teams to make their fizz bombs and to make it more challenging they also had to work simultaneously in another group to make their rainbow cakes. They did an amazing job and came up with some beautiful creations. 

They created stunning fizz bombs with bright colours and botanicals.

Mixing the melt and pour clear soap base with colours and fragrances for the rainbow cakes. Each team had to decide which colours they wanted in their cakes and which order they wanted to pour them in.

Spritzing the layers with IPA in between each layer.

After they had had a taste of how to work with Melt and pour soup we set them a challenge to make a fun embed soaps. I gave them some samples which you can see here and here. The objective was not to copy our examples but to use them as ideas and make their own. The first one was a fun one and the second soap was a competition where they had to make an embed soap that best depicted their company, which is a shipping/ transport company.

I was blown away at how creative these ladies are.

 

The winners of the competition each received a fizz bomb kit  and all ladies walked away with a M&P Soap making kit. Sadly it got too dark and we did not get pictures of the completed soaps but I know the ladies had an awesome time as did Katie and I.

London and a visit to Lush

I am currently in London visiting my sister but I had to stop by a Lush store while I was here. There were the usual favourites but some new products I hadn't see before.

      

What fun these carrots are. They look so real, you just want to take a bite out of one.

      

I think my all time favourite are the fizz bombs and and the rose bubble bars.

 

And then the amazingly citrusy, bright coloured bubble bars which were new to me and smelled so fresh.

Workshop Fun

On the Fourth of July I held a kiddies workshop with Lara of Just Boutique Fame.

As you can see we had a lot of fun.
  
We made Fizz bombs, Dolphin soaps, Slime and Sugar scrub.

Making Fizzies the Riverlea Soap way–an actual Tutorial

     

You will need:-

• Mould – I used a measuring cups – available from any baking shop
• 3ml Fragrance Oil – I used Cucumber & Bergamot
• No Colour
• 1000g Bicarbonate of Soda
• 500g Citric acid
• 40ml Coconut oil
• water – the amount you need will depend on the amount of moisture in the air. Less is more so add it slowly
• Bowl, scale, spoon, pipette and a fly press(optional)

To Make:-

• Add dry ingredients to your bowl and mix
• Add melted coconut oil into fragrance oil, and then add to dry mix
• Mix until squeezed mix retains shape – a little like moist beach sand
• Add a little water to assist
• Using the 2 measuring cups, scoop the mixture and overfill
• Press cups together and clean join and place under the fly press plate. Pull the lever down hard but not too hard so as to break the cups
• Leave to stand for 30 – 60 minutes
• Gently remove mould and release – tap with a spoon to help release if they stick

 Get creative and wrap them in pretty paper with a cute label or a cupcake baking cup.
